Monday Music

I have NO IDEA why this damned song popped into my head yesterday while Boy and I were hiking in the forest again, but it did.  And I will admit:  I like it.  Now I will go turn in my Badass Metalhead card.

Wang Chung, “Dance Hall Days”

The hike was just what I needed:  well, that, and a little inner child time with the Boy.  He wanted to stop by the playground, so we did.  I helped show him a different way to climb the tree-fort-contraption.  He took a picture of me sliding on the slide.  I showed him how to climb on top of the monkey bars, and then joined him on top for a different perspective…then I showed him how to swing down again.  All in all, a good day!

  1. It’s Wang Chung! I got excited going through Youtube looking for a video to use a finding an appearance from Johnny Carson. One of the best uses of Youtube in my honest opinion.

No need to turn in your man card. Embrace your inner Wang Chung.

  2. I got this album, “Points on the Curve” for Christmas in like…1986 along with “To Live and Die in LA” and the new (at the time) album “Mosaic.” I also got Genesis’ “Invisible Touch,” the soundtrack to the movie Labyrinth and the album “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie, and the Police albums “Ghost in the Machine” and “Synchronicity.”

It was one of the best Christmas gifts EVER. I have always liked Wang Chung, if only because it was influential initially through access, and eventually through nostalgia.

This song plays in the background of several Grand Theft Auto games, so if you’re xboxing, that might be how it wormed into your brain.

Or, if you’re like me, sometimes your brain will pick something from 1984 and NEVER LET IT GO…

  3. TB? Have you stopped peeing standing up?

  4. […] Chung’s “Dance Hall Days” would be my song of choice (thanks TB), but will I videotape it and post it on the interwebs? Maybe if I find the perfect wizard-of-oz […]
