I’m sure that many of you, like me, have noticed the new “Possibly Related Posts” thingamabob at the bottom of your blog posts as of the last day or so.  And many of you, like me, probably gave it a big Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!? when you saw it.

Well, thanks to Cheeseslave, I now know how to disable this feature.

1) Go to your dashboard
2) Select “Design”
3) Select “Extras”
4) Check the box to “Hide related links”
5) Hit the “update” button.

As-is, I personally think the minute amount of traffic likely to be directed to my blog by this feature is hardly outweighed by its plain old annoyance.  Make a few changes and maybe I’d be interested:

  • It should be “opt-in” rather than “opt-out”
  • You should be able to choose which categories or tags trigger the feature
  • You should be able to include or exclude blogs that you link to
  • There should be an option to refer only to one’s own blog

That said, I’ve created a new category for “Blog Administrivia” which is for this type of thing – talk about this blog and its operation rather than the type of subjects I actually blog about.  I’m thinking this will be of little interest to anyone with the possible exception of other blogeeks.  (Did I just make up a word?  Surely not.)

And now we return you to your regularly scheduled blather, already in progress…

  1. Thanks for the info!

I defer all thanks to Cheeseslave, from whom I directly stole the how-to. (But I asked permission first!)
