Monday Music

Whew.  Almost forgot.  I had remembered last night, but I’d forgotten today until Dys reminded me just a few minutes ago.

It’s fairly well overdue, but I finally got a new mp3 player.  My in-laws gave me a 1gb player for Christmas back in ’04 I think, and they paid something like $250 for it at that time.  Woo-hoo.  After abusing the hell out of that one for quite some time, it still plays…but since trying to change the music on it via Dys’s Apple, something goofed and it just reads as a ‘bad disc’ when you try to change the music.  That wouldn’t be so bad in and of itself, but two years ago I loaded it up with some “I wanna check this stuff out” music and then we pulled our external HD with all of our music on it offline, so it’s been the same 10 albums for the last 2 years.  I’m pretty damned sick of most of them by now.

So this past weekend, now that we’re gradually committing to Macs, I finally ordered and received a refurbished 16 gig iPod Nano.  It’s a little intoxicating loading the little bugger up with everything I thought I’d be able to get on there, then everything I wanted just in case, and still having a bit more than a gig left over…you know, more empty space than my other one had in all.  (It’s only about half of the total music we have on our HD, but it’s all the metal stuff I’m most likely to want on a trip, in a workout, etc.)

Bonus?  It’s letting me finally listen to the weird and heavy stuff my buddy Michael gave me when they visited.  This would be one of those.  I’m rapidly growing to like this instrumental metal band.

Pelican, “Bliss in Concrete”

Hope everybody’s enjoying their holiday.  I’ve been blissfully unproductive.  :D

  1. Dys mentioned you all had the DC marathon on; so did we for a lot of the weekend. So did everyone I know I think. I hope you had a nice relaxing one!
And oh yeah; I drool at your iPod.

  2. My next toy is an 80 gig Zune. ::drool::
